ABSTRACT
In a psychobiography, a psychological theory is used as a framework to uncover the study of an individual (McAdams, 2012). The value of psychobiographical studies has been advocated by many scholars in the field of political psychology research for the development and testing of theories relating to human development (Carter, 2011). The subjects under investigation in this psychobiographical study are academic leaders. Although much has been written about psychobiography, not much of the existing literature adopts a psychosocial approach to analyzing psychobiography, especially on academic leaders because most of the studies were anchored on political leaders. The researcher aims to explore and analyze the psychobiography of retired academic leaders using Erikson’s psychosocial theory. Furthermore, the study attempts to explain how these factors such as cognitive or psychological, and social systems, as proposed by Erik Erikson, affect the behaviors and decision-making process of these retired academic leaders.
