The event took place at the Business Process Outsourcing Training Center (BPOTC), located within the Isabela State University campus in Cauayan City. Attended by faculty members, department heads, and administrative staff, the strategic planning meeting aimed to lay the groundwork for the School of Arts and Sciences’ goals and initiatives in the 2023-2024 school year.

The first agenda on the table was research. Recognizing the significance of advancing research activities within the college, participants engaged in discussions to identify potential areas of focus, establish collaboration networks with other institutions, and secure grants and funding opportunities. The aim was to encourage faculty members to embark on groundbreaking research projects that would contribute to the overall advancement of knowledge and the local community.
Instruction was another crucial area of focus during the planning session. The participants deliberated on the development of curriculum enhancements, incorporating modern teaching methodologies, and integrating technology into the learning process. The objective was to ensure that students receive a well-rounded education that equips them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their chosen fields.
To strengthen community ties and promote engagement beyond the campus walls, the extension program was given due attention. Plans were discussed to establish partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and other academic institutions to facilitate outreach programs, community services, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that address the needs of the surrounding communities.
The strategic planning session also provided an opportunity to address faculty-related matters. The participants examined strategies to enhance professional development opportunities for faculty members, foster a supportive and inclusive work environment, and recruit and retain top-tier academic professionals. These measures aimed to promote growth and job satisfaction among the faculty, ultimately benefiting the students they serve.
Finally, the topic of accreditation took center stage during the discussions. Acknowledging the importance of maintaining and elevating the School’s standards, the participants analyzed the requirements and processes needed to ensure that the School of Arts and Sciences meets the rigorous criteria set by accrediting bodies. By pursuing accreditation, the School aimed to solidify its reputation as a center of academic excellence.
As the day-long session drew to a close, Dean Tamayo expressed his gratitude to all the participants for their valuable contributions and unwavering dedication to the success of the School of Arts and Sciences. He emphasized that the outcomes of the strategic planning would serve as the foundation for the subsequent phases, which would involve more detailed implementation strategies.
