Abstract:

Violence against women is prevalent not only in the Philippines but also in other countries. It is well acknowledged that wounds and pain are endured often not just in physically, but emotionally and psychologically as well. The consequences of the abuse experienced by women can be severe and it is important to understand their sufferings in physical and/or non-physical forms of abuse. It also affects the mental and psychological behavior of a woman who suffered or experienced violence and abuse. A battered woman is a person who’s in a relationship with a man and they go through a battering cycle of not less than one. The measurable psychological changes that occur after suffering repeated abuse are called battered women syndrome.

This study sought to determine the life experiences and effects of battered women syndrome in Poblacion, Cauayan City, Isabela. This study focused to determine what are the forms of abuse and their life experiences, their coping mechanism, and the effects of battered women syndrome using the Qualitative Descriptive Research Method. To answer the objectives of this study, the researcher gathered data through face-to-face interviews, with a total of seven (7) respondents, and it was transcribed, analyzed, and interpreted by the researcher.
